    The Shenango Area School District is accepting registration of high school students who have recently moved into the district. Preferably, the district wants all new students to be registered by Aug. 16 so that the school district can adequately prepare schedules and transportation arrangements.

  • Shenango hires music teacher

    The Shenango Area School Board hired Becky Yoho as an elementary general music teacher Monday night. Yoho, a New Castle resident, will receive a salary of $44,449 for the 2012-13 school year. She last taught in the Springfield Local School District.

    None of Michelle Watson’s coaches really consider her an athlete. Sure, she might have been one of the best pitchers in the softball program’s history. She might be the only person in Brian Cooper’s 19-year tenure as girls track and field coach to win four WPIAL championships.

    The Shenango school board adopted a budget Thursday night that includes a 4.8 percent property tax increase. The $15,776,780 spending plan for the 2012-13 school year is about $150,000 higher than the current year’s budget.

    Dr. Mike Schreck was hired Monday night to be Shenango school district’s superintendent. “And I’m going to Disney World,” he said this morning. Actually Schreck’s family vacation to Florida had been planned for some time. “It just worked out that I can say this,” he joked Tuesday.

    With graduation season here, certain seniors have records that shine. Shenango senior Michelle Watson is one of them.  Watson has been involved in several clubs and organizations during her years at Shenango. She is a member of SADD, Spanish Club, Peer Leadership, Student Council, National Honor Society and the volleyball, softball and track teams.

Yes. If it’s a more efficient way to run the jail, I’m all for it.
No. I think there would be too many questions of liability for the county.
