  • Shenango to seek bids for roofs

    The Shenango Area School District will advertise for bids to replace the roofs at the elementary and high schools. Superintendent Dr. Michael Schreck said that although the roofs have “lived out their useful life,” the board has not yet decided whether to replace them at this time.

    Two Shenango school district employees are credited with saving a student from choking in the cafeteria. Brian Cooper, a seventh-grade teacher, and David Tyler, school security officer, ran to the aid of 12-year-old Kaelyn LaScola Thursday after being alerted by another student that she was choking, according to superintendent Michael Schreck.

    The Shenango Area School District is preparing its students for the future. The school board this week approved an agreement with Lawrence County School-to-Work at a cost of $4,000. Through this program, students learn what job skills are needed to successfully enter the workforce.
