Board approves leave for teacher
The Shenango Area School Board has approved a family medical leave for Don Drozynski. The leave for Drozynski, a science teacher at the high school, began March 6 and is not to exceed 12 weeks.

Shenango education foundation to meet
The first meeting of the Shenango Community Education Foundation will be Wednesday. The session will begin at 7 p.m. in the Shenango High School library.

In the Schools: Shenango hires security guard
The Shenango Area School Board hired a retired state police trooper as a security guard Tuesday night. David Tyler will be paid $20 per hour but no benefits.

Shenango OKs resignation
The Shenango Area School Board has approved a resignation agreement with Ralph Martone. Martone, a physics teacher for 24 years, is on medical leave for the second semester. His resignation is effective June 30.

Shenango schools plan kindergarten registration
Shenango has set March 6 and 7 for kindergarten registration. Anyone wishing to receive a registration packet must call the elementary school before Feb. 11.

In the schools: Security measures to remain at Shenango
Security measures in place and proposed for the Shenango Area School District will remain for the foreseeable future. At the school board meeting this week, one parent, Tiffany Cast, asked if interest in school security will continue or die out because board attention will be redirected.

High School Football: Commesso hopes to lead Shenango back to winning ways
Mike Commesso had no doubt that his time had come. The Shenango Area School Board hired the 39-year-old Mohawk High graduate and Hopewell High assistant as Shenango’s head varsity football coach last night.

Shenango Schools: Police to have more presence in buildings
The Shenango Area School District is implementing security measures for its elementary and junior/senior high schools. The administration recommended the measures to the school board, which accepted them this week.
