Shenango adjusts school calendar

NEW CASTLE — The Shenango Area School Board has approved adjustments in the school calendar as the result of snow days:

•April 16 — School will be in session for a full day.

•April 17 — School will be in session as an early dismissal Act 80 day for senior project interviews.

•May 16 — An Act 80 day for teacher inservice.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Schreck said school was canceled five days this year. Two of those days were previously rescheduled: One for Feb. 17 and the other for March 21.

At its meeting Monday, the board:

•Adopted the proposed 2014-15 budget for Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV. The budget totals $3,848,553. Shenango’s share will be $12,526, which is $24 less than this year’s budget.

•Accepted the resignation of Sue Zeigler as elementary school nurse. She had been with the district for 20 years.

•Accepted the resignation of Beth Hassan as van driver.

•Granted use of the high school facilities to first responders — fire and ambulance personnel — to conduct training exercises Sept. 12, 13 and 14.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
