Shenango approves job skills program

NEW CASTLE — The Shenango Area School District is preparing its students for the future.

The school board this week approved an agreement with Lawrence County School-to-Work at a cost of $4,000.

Through this program, students learn what job skills are needed to successfully enter the workforce.

At its meeting this week, the board also:

•Hired Janice Robinson as a long-term substitute secondary computer science teacher at $19,844.

•Approved a family medical leave and unpaid childcare leave for Michelle Whiting from Oct. 1 through Feb. 28.

•Authorized the Shenango Football Boosters to operate the concession stand during home football games for the 2013, 2014 and 2015 seasons.

•Approved by-laws for the Shenango Area Band Boosters.

•Set ticket prices for home sports games. They are: $4 for general admission and $6 for reserved seats at varsity football and $3 for adults and $2 for students at varsity volleyball and basketball games. Those 62 and older will be admitted free.
