Districts awarded Safe Schools grants

NEW CASTLE — The Shenango and Ellwood City school districts have been awarded Safe Schools Initiative Targeted grants from the state.

Each district will receive $25,000, according to state Sen. Elder Vogel.

Several school districts in Beaver and Lawrence counties were selected to receive state Safe Schools Initiative Targeted Grants, Vogel said.

The grants are intended to provide funding of up to $25,000 for programs under their comprehensive safe school plans.

The money can be used for school resource officers, school police officers, violence prevention programs and emergency preparedness initiatives. This includes planning and implementation of activities that prevent or reduce violence by and against youth on school property and/or transportation to and from school and for security–related training and equipment.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
