Shenango board set to fill vacancy

NEW CASTLE — The Shenango Area School Board is expected to appoint Dean Owrey on Monday to fill a vacancy on the board.

Owrey, chief financial officer of the University of PittsburghMC’s information services division, was selected from among 16 people who expressed interest in the position.

The board reached a consensus Monday after conducting second interviews of candidates.

The position became vacant in December with the death of Ronald Martin.

Owrey, a certified public accountant, is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and completed a curriculum at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College.

His father, Ray, served on Shenango’s school board more than 30 years ago.
