Shenango board approves tax abatement

NEW CASTLE — The Shenango Area School Board has approved a five-year tax abatement for Blackwatch Properties.

The company plans to build a 54,290-square-foot building on the site of the former Shenango Bowl-A-Way on New Butler Road. The company assembles valves for the gas shale industry.

Under the resolution approved by the board Monday, all school property taxes will be forgiven on the company’s building improvements in the first year. The exemption will be reduced on a sliding scale in each of the next four years. After the fifth year, the company will pay on its full assessment.

The township supervisors granted a similar abatement for the company last week.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
