Shenango to seek bids for roofs

NEW CASTLE — The Shenango Area School District will advertise for bids to replace the roofs at the elementary and high schools.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Schreck said that although the roofs have “lived out their useful life,” the board has not yet decided whether to replace them at this time.

He said the board authorized advertising for bids on Monday to determine what the cost would be.

“We’re trying to be proactive,” he said.

The board also approved establishment of an activity account for the Students Against Violence Everywhere club.

SAVE clubs work in conjunction with the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County.

Goals of the clubs include engaging students in meaningful violence prevention and educating students about the effects and consequences of violence.

Creation of an account will allow club members to raise funds to offset the costs of awareness programming and activities to support the club’s goals, according to the club’s adviser.
