NEW CASTLE — A Wexford firm was hired this week to conduct a forensic audit for the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center.

Zelenkofske Axelrod was hired Monday on a 10-2 vote. James McFarland, Neshannock’s representative, and Scott Singer from Mohawk, voted no.

The first phase of the audit is not to exceed $13,000.

Last month the board advertised for an in-depth audit, noting they want to know what happened to a fund balance the practical nursing program had a few years ago.

Also at the special meeting Monday the board hired Christopher Bates as machine tool technology instructor. The vote was unanimous.

The board approved a starting salary of $45,963, which will be pro-rated for the current school year.
