MONDAY — Breakfast: Trix yogurt, animal crackers

Lunch: Bacon cheeseburger on kaiser with lettuce, tomato and fries or chili and cheese fries with bread stick, garden salad with dressing

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Breakfast pizza

Lunch: Jumbo taco with meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and roll or hot Italian hoagie with lettuce and tomato, corn

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, toast with margarine

Lunch: Rodeo burger on bun or chicken pattie on bun, criss-cut fries

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Hot soft pretzel with cheese cube

Lunch: Soup and salad bar at elementary; buffalo chicken wrap at high school; or cheese steak pizza, french fries

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Sausage wrap

Lunch: Nacho and cheese munchable or pepperoni pizza at elementary; pasta bar or assorted pizza at high school; veggie sticks with dip

Assorted fruits and milk available with all meals.



Mohawk

MONDAY — Breakfast: Ham pattie on bun

Lunch: Meatball in sauce, dinner roll and margarine at elementary; meatball hoagie, oven fries at high school; broccoli with cheese

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Cinnamon bun

Lunch: Grilled chicken sandwich, glazed carrot coins, tator tots

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: French toast sticks, syrup, sausage links

Lunch: Barbecue ribbie on bun, green beans, blue raspeberry icee

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Bacon and egg muffin

Lunch: Chicken noodle soup and crackers, mini sub, vegetable sticks and ranch dip

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Pancake on stick, syrup

Lunch: Nachos grande, corn, pudding cup

Milk available with all meals; fruit, juice and cereal at all breakfasts. The alternative menu is personal pan pizza with cheese on Tuesday and Thursday only. Chef salad or peanut butter sandwiches available daily at elementary.



Neshannock

MONDAY — Breakfast: Blueberry muffin, cereal or toast

Lunch: Pepperoni pete or chicken nuggets with bread, whipped potatoes

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Twist donut with sprinkles, toast or cereal

Lunch: Chicken parm with pasta and bread stick or hot dog at elementary; hot ham and cheese sub at high school; tossed salad

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Trix yogurt, toast

Lunch: Combo sub with cheese at elementary; hot italian sub at high school; or double taco, corn

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Funnel cake, toast

Lunch: Waffles with syrup and sausage pattie or hamburger on bun, hash brown potatoes at elementary; buffalo chicken salad with roll or double hot dog, oven fries at high school

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Cinnamon toast, cereal

Lunch: Popcorn chicken with bread or stromboli with sauce, carrots

Assorted sandwiches and choice of milk and fruit available daily. Chef salads offered at high school on Tuesdays and Thursdays; salad bar on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Salad bar offered at elementary on Wednesdays and Fridays.



New Castle

MONDAY — Breakfast: Breakfast pizza

Lunch: Barbecue rib sandwich, hash brown

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Cereal bar

Lunch: Cheeseburger on a bun, scalloped potatoes

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: French toast with syrup

Lunch: Spaghetti with meat sauce and roll, tossed salad with dressing, italian ice

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Pizza bagel

Lunch: Chicken pattie sandwich, vegetable

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Pancake on a stick

Lunch: Corn dog, baked beans

Breakfast has a choice of cereal, fruit and milk daily. Lunch has a choice of assorted sandwiches, fruit and milk daily.

Junior, senior high

MONDAY — Chicken nuggets, hash brown

TUESDAY — Stuffed crust wheat pizza, carrot sticks

WEDNESDAY — Chicken pattie sandwich, scalloped potatoes, italian ice

THURSDAY — Spaghetti and meat sauce, tossed salad with dressing, dinner roll

FRIDAY — Hot dog on bun, potato smiles

Breakfast menu is the same as elementary. Lunch has a choice of milk, assorted sandwiches and fruit daily; stuffed-crust pizza on Mondays and Wednesdays, cheese pizza on Fridays; chef salads with roll on Tuesdays and Thursdays.



Shenango

MONDAY — Breakfast: 1/2 bagel

Lunch: Southwest chicken wrap, corn, pears at elementary; macaroni and cheese or cheeseburger or sausage and pepperoni pizza at high school

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Toast

Lunch: Corn dog, french fries, pudding at elementary; taco salald or hot ham and cheese sandwich or cheese lover’s pizza at high school

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Fruit bar

Lunch: French toast sticks with syrup, sausage, hash browns, peaches at elementary; oriental chicken over rice or ranch turkey wrap or sausage pizza at high school

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Toast

Lunch: Hot ham and cheese, tator tots, pineapple tidbits; steak and cheese grinder or corndog or white pizza at high school

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Blueberry muffin

Lunch: Cheese pizza tossed salad, mixed fruit at elementary; southwest chicken pattie or meatball hoagie or supreme pizza

Breakfast is available at the elementary only; daily choices include assorted cereal, toast, juice and milk. Peanut butter and jelly sandwhich and caesar salad are available at the elementary. Made to order subs, salad bar and pizza are available for purchase at the high school daily. Choice of vegetables, fruits and milk served with all meals.



St. Vitus

MONDAY — Macaroni and cheese, vegetable, jello

TUESDAY — Chicken nuggets, oven potatoes, peas

WEDNESDAY — Nacho chips, cheese sauce and taco meat, broccoli, fruit sherbet

THURSDAY — Sloppy Joe sandwich, cheddar cheese portion, chicken noodle soup with crackers, frozen juice bar

FRIDAY — No Lunch

This week’s alternate is hot dog with bun. Fresh fruit and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches available every day. All meals include choice of whole or low-fat milk.

Hot lunch line: Cheeseburger on a bun and oven fries

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Sausage and cheese biscuit

Hot lunch line: Vegetable or pepperoni pizza, tossed salad

Cereal, toast, juice, milk and snack mix available at all breakfasts.

On the hot lunch line, milk, assorted fruit, snack mix and fresh vegetable sticks served daily. Chef salads and spinach salads with roll and butter available daily. On the cold lunch line, milk, assorted fruit, snack mix and fresh vegetable sticks served daily. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches available daily.



Wilmington

MONDAY — French toast sticks, maple syrup, sausage link, hash brown, applesauce

TUESDAY — Chicken fingers, french fries, corn, bread and margarine, Jell-O and whipped topping

WEDNESDAY — Stuffed crust pizza, tossed salad, pretzel, pudding

THURSDAY — Hot dogs, french fries, baked beans, fruity ice

FRIDAY — Gyro in pocket,cuke sauce, lettuce and tomato cup, corn fruit bars

Grab ’N’ Go breakfast, which includes breakfast bar, muffin, applesauce.

At all schools there is a choice of the hot lunch, the salad lunch or the brown bag lunch. Choice of sandwiches in the brown bag lunch are bologna or peanut butter. At the middle/high school, pizza, salad bar and sandwich bar are available every day. Milk and choice of fruit included daily.

Head Start

MONDAY — Breakfast: French toast with syrup, applesauce

Lunch: Chicken nuggets with dipping sauce, cauliflower and broccoli with cheese sauce, roll with butter, grapes

Snack: Cheese, wheat crackers, fruit juice

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Oatmeal with brown sugar, raisins

Lunch: Grilled cheese sandwich, pickles, tomato soup with crackers, carrot sticks, apple

Snack: Bagel, peanut butter

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Pancakes with syrup, apple juice

Lunch: Sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, muffin, applesauce

Snack: Raw vegetables with dip

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Corn flakes, grape juice

Lunch: Hamburger on bun, ketchup and mustard and pickles, baked beans, peaches

Snack: Pretzel with cream cheese, grapes, water

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Rice Krispies, banana

Lunch: Baked fish, tartar sauce, baked potato with cheese, roll with butter, pears

Snack: Granola bar, juice

Two percent milk is served daily with breakfast, lunch and snack.

    Balancing of the New Castle Area School District’s 2012-13 budget will not require a property tax increase.
    The school board has called a special meeting for 6 p.m. Tuesday to introduce its spending plan totaling $40,538,389 for next school year. That represents a 3.7 percent or $1,461,942 increase from this year’s budget.

    Administrators in the Shenango school district have accepted a wage freeze for the 2012-13 year. Dr. Michael Schreck, acting superintendent, said the freeze affects high school principal Joe McCormick, assistant principal Dan Mayer, director of special education Christine Moon, elementary principal Adam Vincent and technology director Rob Heath.

    Neshannock will begin a cyber/charter school next year. The board last week agreed to contract with VLN Partners of Pittsburgh. The district will pay a $16,750 annual fee for the customized online plan plus an additional $150 for each student who participates in the program and each teacher who taps into its resources.

The good-natured bowtie-clad man who gained popularity among Neshannock High School students with his “bee dance” and his ever-flowing science lore, collapsed in his classroom two years ago and died.

    The Union Area School District is looking at ways to cut expenses in order to avoid a tax increase. A budget for the 2012-13 school will be introduced at Wednesday’s board meeting, but all aspects of the financial plan are still being discussed, superintendent Dr. Alfonso “Butch” Angelucci said.
