Area Agency on Aging

MONDAY — Liver and onions, mashed potatoes, spinach and lettuce salad with oil and vinegar, apple juice, white bread and apricots

TUESDAY — Baked chicken pattie, red skin potato, wax beans, cranberry juice, wheat bread and mandarin oranges

WEDNESDAY — Goulash, tossed salad with French dressing, green beans, white bread, chocolate cake and icing, and vanilla ice cream

THURSDAY — Sliced pork and gravy, sauerkraut, buttered noodles, peas and carrots, oat bran square and mixed fruit

FRIDAY — Roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, rye bread and orange

Coffee, tea or milk served with each meal. A la carte items are available for Friday breakfast.



Ellwood City

Lunch: Roast turkey with dressing, mashed potato with gravy, peas, cranberry sauce, dinner roll with margarine and Thanksgiving cookie

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Hot soft pretzel with cheese cube

Lunch: Soup and salad bar at elementary; grilled chicken wrap at high school; or crazy bread sticks with meat sauce and french fries

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Twist doughnut and cereal

Mohawk

MONDAY — Breakfast: Pop tart and toast

Lunch: Corn dog on stick or breakfast sandwich at elementary; gyro with fixings, mixed vegetables at high school and hash brown pattie

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Breakfast pizza

Lunch: Sloppy Joe on bun, oven fries and green beans

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Pancakes and syrup

Lunch: Turkey and gravy, whipped potatoes, corn, and dinner roll and margarine

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Cinnamon bun

Lunch: Hot dog on bun, baked beans and macaroni salad

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Breakfast pocket

Lunch: Tomato soup and crackers, and grilled cheese sandwich or tuna hoagie

Milk available with all meals; fruit, juice and cereal at all breakfasts. The alternative menu is personal pan pizza with cheese on Tuesday and Thursday only. Chef salad or peanut butter sandwiches available daily at elementary.



Neshannock

MONDAY — Breakfast: Raspberry strudel, and white or wheat toast

Lunch: Grilled cheese with soup or grilled chicken wrap, and parsley potatoes

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Scrambled eggs and English muffin half

Lunch: Hot Italian sub at elementary; hot Sicilian at high school or taco salad, green beans

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Trix yogurt, white or wheat toast with jelly

Lunch: Hamburger at elementary; soup and salad bar at elementary or Chicken gingers with bread slice and baked beans

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Warm iced cinnamon roll and cereal

Lunch: Roast turkey with dressing, whipped potatoes and vegetable

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Cinnamon toast and cereal

Lunch: Cheese pizza or fish sandwich with cheese and oven fries

Assorted sandwiches and choice of milk and fruit available daily. Chef salads offered at high school on Tuesdays and Thursdays; salad bar on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Salad bar offered at elementary on Wednesdays and Fridays.



New Castle

MONDAY — Breakfast: Sunflower seeds

Lunch: Cheeseburger on a bun and au gratin potatoes

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Graham crackers

Lunch: Hot dog on bun and baked beans

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Pizza bagel

Lunch: Creamed turkey with roll and mashed potatoes with gravy

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Funnel cake

Lunch: Barbecue rib sandwich and scalloped potatoes

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Waffles with syrup

Lunch: Chicken pattie sandwich and vegetable

Breakfast has a choice of cereal, fruit and milk daily. Lunch has a choice of assorted sandwiches, fruit and milk daily.



Junior, senior high

MONDAY — Chicken nuggets and french fries

TUESDAY — Creamed turkey with roll and mashed potatoes with gravy

WEDNESDAY — Chicken pattie sandwich and vegetable

THURSDAY — Spaghetti and meat sauce, tossed salad with dressing and dinner roll

FRIDAY — Pepperoni and cheese sandwich, and scalloped potatoes

Breakfast menu is the same as elementary. Lunch has a choice of milk, assorted sandwiches and fruit daily; stuffed-crust pizza on Mondays and Wednesdays, cheese pizza on Fridays; chef salads with roll on Tuesdays and Thursdays.



Shenango

MONDAY — Breakfast: Toast

Lunch: Fish shapes, buttered noodles and peaches at elementary; Nacho grande or barbecue ham or cheese lover’s pizza at high school

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Blueberry muffin

Lunch: Cheeseburger on a bun, tator tots and juice at elementary; ranch chicken pattie or bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich or pepperoni pizza at high school

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Toast

Lunch: Roasted turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, corn and cranberry sauce dinner roll at elementary and high school; Tuna wrap or meat lover’s pizza at high school only

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Raspberry filled churro

Lunch: Hoagie, green beans and apple at elementary; baked potato bar or Italian toasted cheese or white pizza at high school

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Toast

Lunch: Cheesy pizza, tossed salad and mixed fruit at elementary; Southwest chicken wrap or pizza burger or taco pizza at high school

Breakfast is available at the elementary only; daily choices include assorted cereal, toast, juice and milk. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich and Caesar salad are available at the elementary. Made to order subs, salad bar and pizza are available for purchase at the high school daily. Choice of vegetables, fruits and milk served with all meals.



St. Vitus

MONDAY — Soft shell taco, corn and frozen juice bar

TUESDAY — Macaroni and cheese, green beans and Jell-O

WEDNESDAY — Roast turkey and gravy with stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, and dessert

THURSDAY — French toast sticks, sausage links, hash brown potatoes and fruit juice

FRIDAY — Stuffed breadsticks with dipping sauce, tossed salad and vegetable

This week’s alternate is sloppy Joe sandwich. Fresh fruit and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches available every day. All meals include choice of whole or low-fat milk.



Union

MONDAY — Breakfast: Cereal and toast

Lunch: Popcorn chicken, french fries, and bread and butter

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Super doughnut and toast

Lunch: Ham sandwich, hot soup and vegetable

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: French toast and breakfast sausage

Lunch: Meatball sandwich and tossed salad

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Breakfast pizza

Lunch: Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, roll and butter, and pumpkin pie

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Funnel cake with powdered sugar

Lunch: Personal pan pizza, vegetable at elementary; taco salad with toppings bar, and bread and butter at high school

Choice of fruit and low-fat milk are served with all meals. At the middle/high school, salad bar, subs, pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches are served daily; roni rolls are served on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Daily elementary lunch alternates are hamburger, hot dog, soup and sandwich or chicken pattie sandwich.



Vo-Tech

MONDAY — Breakfast: Super doughnut

Hot lunch line: Sloppy Joe sandwich and tator tots

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Cereal and toast

Hot lunch line: Hot Italian hoagie and baked chips

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Bagel with cream cheese

Hot lunch line: Cheeseburger on bun and oven fries

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Breakfast pizza

Hot lunch line: Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, salad and dessert

FRIDAY — Breakfast: French toast sticks with syrup and sausage pattie

Hot lunch line: Vegetable or pepperoni pizza and tossed salad

Cereal, toast, juice, milk and snack mix available at all breakfasts.

On the hot lunch line, milk, assorted fruit, snack mix and fresh vegetable sticks served daily. Chef salads and spinach salads with roll and butter available daily. On the cold lunch line, milk, assorted fruit, snack mix and fresh vegetable sticks served daily. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches available daily.



Wilmington

MONDAY — French toast stick, maple syrup, sausage link and applesauce

TUESDAY — Pizza boat at elementary; Philly steak sandwich, peppers and onions at high school; hash brown and green beans

WEDNESDAY — Stromboli, tossed salad, pretzel and pudding

THURSDAY — Chicken nuggets, honey cup and potato rounds at elementary; potato wedges at high school; peas and carrots, and pudding

FRIDAY — Turkey and gravy, whipped potatoes, green beans, bread and margarine, and pumpkin cake and whipped topping

Grab ’N’ Go breakfast, which includes breakfast bar, muffin and applesauce.

At all schools there is a choice of the hot lunch, the salad lunch or the brown bag lunch. Choice of sandwiches in the brown bag lunch are bologna or peanut butter. At the middle/high school, pizza, salad bar and sandwich bar are available every day. Milk and choice of fruit included daily.

Head Start

MONDAY — Breakfast: French toast with syrup and grape juice

Lunch: Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas, bread with butter and applesauce

Snack: Crackers, peanut butter and water

TUESDAY — Breakfast: Kix cereal and orange juice

Lunch: Grilled cheese sandwich, tomato soup, carrots and crackers

Snack: Yogurt, crackers and water

WEDNESDAY — Breakfast: Muffin and applesauce

Lunch: Turkey with gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, broccoli, roll with butter and peaches

Snack: Pretzel, cheese and water

THURSDAY — Breakfast: Bagel with jelly and grape juice

Lunch: Pizza with cheese, tossed salad with Italian dressing, apple and Jell-O

Snack: Fruit with dip and water

FRIDAY — Breakfast: Corn flakes and pineapple juice

Lunch: Taco with meat, lettuce and cheese and tomatoes, green beans, carrot sticks and pudding

Snack: Granola bar, orange and water

Two-percent milk is served daily with breakfast, lunch and snack.

    The Neshannock Township School District has reached a settlement with the parent of a special-needs child. At its meeting this month, the board agreed to pay attorney’s fees and put money aside toward the boy’s education.

    The New Castle school district will save about a half-million dollars by refinancing a bond issue from 2006. At its meeting last week, the board unanimously approved a resolution to proceed with the refinancing at the recommendation of its bond counsel and financial adviser.

    No students were injured in an accident Friday afternoon involving a Mohawk school bus. According to superintendent Kathy Kwolek, the accident occurred around 4 p.m. on Martin Kelly Spears Road in Mahoning Township.
