Here's what we've learned as of 1:15 p.m. Friday:
•North Hills vs. New Castle — Postponed until 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
•Western Beaver vs. Union — Postponed. No makeup date scheduled.
•West Allegheny vs. Ellwood City — Postponed. No makeup date scheduled.
•Wilmington vs. Vision Quest — Postponed. No makeup date scheduled.
All other games are on at this time

Vo-tech budget an issue for interim director
The first order of business for the new vo-tech school interim director may be to address the 2013-14 budget. The Lawrence County Career and Technical Center’s spending plan must be passed by at least six school boards in the county and a majority of the 72 members on the eight school boards in the county must vote yes.

Ellwood OKs budget with no tax hike
The Ellwood City school board adopted the district’s 2013-14 budget with no increase in taxes. The budget totals $26,512,279. Property taxes are set at 15.81 mills.

Tommelleo resigns, Ionta named interim director at vo-tech
The Lawrence County Career and Technical Center has a new interim director. Domenic J. Ionta was named to the post Thursday night to lead the school while it searches for a permanent executive director.

No tax hike for Neshannock schools
The Neshannock school board adopted a $16.6 million budget for next year with no tax increase. The 2013-14 spending plan is $464,067 greater than the current year’s budget.

Mohawk approves contract at special meeting
Mohawk’s school board approved a contract to repair air conditioning at the elementary school. School board members, meeting in a special session Monday, awarded the $88,390 pact to Central Heating and Plumbing, the lowest of three bids received.

New president to lead Catholic school system
The Rev. Michael P. Allison has been named president of the Shenango Valley Catholic School System, effective July 7. The system includes Kennedy Catholic High School, Kennedy Catholic Middle School and Blessed John Paul II Elementary School, all in Hermitage.

Shenango OKs budget with no tax hike
The Shenango Area School Board adopted a $15.8 million budget Monday night that requires no tax increase. All eight members present voted in favor of the $15,819,792 spending plan for the 2013-14 school year. Joseph Gaus was absent.

Preliminary state audit of Vo-Tech has findings
State auditors have cited two findings at Lawrence County Career and Technical Center during a preliminary audit review. Auditors of the state auditor general’s office met privately Friday with center director Dr. Andrew Tommelleo; the joint operating committee’s superintendent of record, Dr. Alfonso J. “Butch” Angelucci, and joint operating committee member Alan Carlson, to review the center’s finances for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years.
