Vo-tech school hires teachers

NEW CASTLE — The Lawrence County Career and Technical Center joint operating committee took the following action at its August and September meetings:

•Hired Robert Seminara as a full-time construction trades teacher at an annual salary of $45,963.

•Accepted the retirement of Martha Diamond as health assistant instructor. She has held the position for 26 years.

•Hired Laurie Audia at a starting salary of $45,963, prorated for this school year, to replace Diamond.

•Hired Jeff Bame as machine technology instructor at a salary of $45,963. He later sent a text message to the school indicating he does not want the job, according to acting executive director Domenic J. Ionta. The hiring will remain in place until the school receives an official letter, Ionta said.

•Entered a contract with New Castle’s police department for a resource officer at $20,000 for this school year.

•Reappointed auditor Mark Turnley to conduct the regular 2013-14 audit at $6,750.

•Named Kenneth Holzer, B. Joy Cookson and Sally A. Krolicki as substitute teachers.

•Appointed Debra Allebach as the committee’s delegate to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.

•Agreed to post the position of joint operating committee secretary. That position was held by Chastity Williams, who has resigned.
