NEW CASTLE —
The New Castle school board last night unanimously approved the contract of Stanley Magusiak to serve as interim superintendent.
Magusiak, who has been an administrative assistant to the superintendent in charge of federal programs and technology for the past five years, will see his $118,078 annual salary bumped up by a $5,000 stipend. This was provided by the board in consideration for additional duties and responsibilities as interim superintendent.
He took the position on Feb. 1, following the retirement of former superintendent George Gabriel.
Magusiak will serve in the post through June 30.
The board approved the contract with Magusiak by an 8-0 vote. Board member Allan Joseph was absent.
Last month, the school board hired the Pennsylvania School Boards Association for $15,000 to help them search for a superintendent.
