NEW CASTLE — Organizers of the proposed New Castle Arts Academy Charter School have scheduled meetings with the public.

The sessions will be at the New Castle Public Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 10.

The gatherings will allow the public to meet people involved in establishing the charter school, which intends to focus on arts, language and science. Classes will be for students in kindergarten through grade 8.

The academy has submitted an application to the New Castle school district to operate in the city, but it is designed to serve students in all surrounding districts.

Organizers say a key component of the charter school will be implementation of a renaissance curriculum, which will blend assorted arts into other classroom instruction. Foreign languages, ranging from Spanish to Chinese, will be an integral part of the learning process.
