Police believe injured woman was hit
Police believe a woman found with severe injuries on Moravia Street Sunday might have been hit by a truck. Shiquana Brown, 30, of 413 1/2 E. Reynolds St., remains in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, where she was taken by ambulance.
Shenango woman dies in crash
A Shenango Township woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 376 in Pulaski Township. State police have identified her as 71-year-old Chong S. Wigley of 25 Quarry Road.
UPDATE: Walmart shooting suspect found dead
A man sought in connection with a Walmart shooting last night has been found dead in New Brighton. Carlos Montique Harper, 27, of 103 E. Sharp St., was found inside the Brightwood Manor apartment complex in New Brighton late this morning.
Injured woman found on South Side
New Castle police are piecing together what happened to a woman found Sunday on the city’s South Side. Officers have not yet released the name of the woman, found about 7:30 p.m. on Moravia Street between Ellwood Quality Steel and Division Street.
Police probe fatal shooting at Walmart
An autopsy will be performed today on a New Castle woman shot last night in the Walmart parking lot. Mariah Jai Anderson, 22, of 103 E. Sharp St. was pronounced dead at Jameson Hospital by Lawrence County Deputy Coroner Richard Johnson. He said the cause of death appears to be multiple gunshot wounds of the head and upper body.
Shooting claims life of city man
A New Castle man was killed in a shooting early Saturday at a public housing development in Ellwood City. Richard Hogue, 28, of 101 E. Sharp St. was shot at 1:45 a.m. at a Loop Street apartment in the Lawrence County Housing Authority’s Walnut Ridge Apartments.
Police match fingerprints in two burglaries
New Castle police said they have solved two August burglaries with fingerprint matches. One was on the city’s South Side. The other was on the East Side.
Chimney blamed for Pulaski fire
An improperly installed wood burner chimney is thought to be the cause of a house fire in Pulaski Township. Pulaski Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief Guy Morse said crews got the call just before 7:45 p.m.
Man wanted in alleged sexual assault
A South Side man is accused of sexually assaulting and detaining a woman against her will. Police have charged Carlos M. Harper of Apt. A, 103 Sharp St., in the Sciota Street projects, in connection with the incident, which reportedly occurred around 9 a.m. Sunday.
Man accused in lawn ornament assault
An Edinburg resident is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a man with a lawn ornament. New Castle police were called to the 100 block of West Balph Avenue around 8:15 p.m. Saturday regarding the alleged attack.
