Fire marshal to probe blaze
The state fire marshal is investigating a blaze Monday in Union Township. The call came at 1:20 p.m. for the fire in a mobile home at 1765 Old Youngstown Road. Mahoning and Pulaski townships sent units to assist at the scene, at the intersection of Route 422.
Man facing attempted homicide charges
A South New Castle man is facing attempted homicide charges after he allegedly ran over another man. Michael Todd Falba, 29, of 2315 Morris St. also is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and criminal attempted aggravated assault, and one count each of accidents involving death or personal injury, criminal mischief, recklessly endangering another person, accidents involving damage to vehicle or property, reckless driving and failing to stop to provide information or render aid following an accident.
Charges filed in death of Enon Valley man
A Rochester man has been charged in the Nov. 16 shooting death of an Enon Valley resident. Ellwood City police charged Leon Platt, 26, of 474 Oregon Ave. with murder of the first degree and criminal homicide in the death of Richard Hogue, 28.
Snow caused few problems
Despite a weather system that turned roads icy Saturday evening, no major problems were reported by local police agencies.

A New Castle couple has been charged following a double armed robbery in the city and in Shenango Township.
Man arrested in robberies
A North Hill man has been accused of committing two of armed robberies Sunday. New Castle police yesterday arrested Brian Keith Misner, 23, of 117 Park Ave. for a robbery that took place at the Tic-Toc Food Mart on Highland Avenue.

Man on walk gets stuck in mud, calls 911 for help
A Slippery Rock Township man used his cell phone to call for help after he became stuck in mud. James Hogue, 70, walking with his dog, Daisy, along a pipeline in a swampy area in the Copper Road/Center Church Road area, became stuck in mud on Wednesday afternoon.
Police raid East Side home for drugs
Narcotics officers raided a home on the city’s Lower East Side Wednesday and seized a quantity of pure cocaine. As a result, Nicole M. Robertson, 28, of 607 Countyline St. was arrested and faces drug-related charges.
