Rash of truck battery thefts reported

NEW CASTLE — New Castle police are investigating a rash of truck battery thefts from vehicles parked in lots in the city.

Five batteries were reported stolen from two mail trucks parked in a lot in the 500 block of Cascade Street, between Jan. 8 and 9.

Four truck batteries were reported stolen from a tractor-trailer parked in a lot in the 1100 block of Grandview Avenue overnight Friday to Saturday. It was the second theft that had occurred on the lot last week, police were told.

Three truck batteries also were reported stolen from a tractor-trailer parked in the 700 block of Moravia Street Friday.

Anyone who has information about the thefts is asked to contact the city police at (724) 656-3570.

Other local police departments have reported similar incidents in the county in recent weeks.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 fell from the sky in Donetsk, Ukraine, on Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. Many are speculating that Russian rebels (supported by Vladimir Putin) are responsible for downing the aircraft. What do you think?

I'm not sure. I'll just wait until the investigation is over to make up my mind.
What is up with these Malaysian Airlines planes? I know one airline I won't be flying any time soon...
