NEW CASTLE —
•Theft. An iPod valued at $385 and other items worth $450 were stolen Saturday from a vehicle parked in a lot on New Butler Road.
•Accident. Police said Catherine Roser, 18, of Enon Valley, was driving on Friendship Road in Big Beaver Borough, Beaver County, around 1:15 a.m. Sunday when she failed to negotiate a curve and slid sideways off the road. Her car rolled several times down an embankment and landed on its roof, according to police. Roser sustained moderate injury, police said, but her passenger was not injured. Roser was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
•Accident. Police said Brian T. Damon, 42, of Ellwood City, was driving east on Route 488 in Perry Township around 6:30 a.m. Nov. 26 when he hit a deer. He was not injured, according to police.
•Accident. Police said Ronald H. Crawford, 65, of New Castle, was traveling on Route 65 in Wayne Township around 5:15 a.m. Nov. 20 when he went off the road and hit a sign and a tree. No injuries were reported. Crawford was cited for careless driving.
•Accident. Police said Zachary Beahr, 18, of New Castle, was westbound on Bowden Road around 1 a.m. Saturday when he lost control and drove onto a dirt berm for about 50 feet, then hit an oak tree. His car traveled 60 more feet and spun counter-clockwise after impact, landing in a ditch on Lakewood-Neshannock Falls Road, police said. He suffered minor injury, police said, adding he was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
•Accident. Police said Cristina O’Neill, 42, of Slippery Rock was traveling on Route 19 in Slippery Rock Township around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday when she hit a truck from behind driven by Steven E. Connell, 52, of Slippery Rock. Police said Connell had stopped for construction. No injuries were reported. O’Neill was cited for following too closely.
•Accident. Police said Tallisa L. Johnson, 47, of Sharon, sustained minor injury while driving on Interstate 376 in Neshannock Township around 9:30 a.m. Nov. 25. Police said she lost control of her car, went off the road, hit a guide rail, then a car driven by Anthony J. Garuccio, 48, of Aliquippa, then hit another guard rail. No other injuries were reported. Johnson was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
•Burglary. Someone broke into a home in the 200 block of Bowden Road in Hickory Township between 8:30 a.m. Friday and 1:45 a.m. Saturday. A plastic container filled with change was taken.
•Theft. About nine commercial batteries were stolen from three tractor-trailers parked in a lot in the 100 block of South Main Street in Bessemer, between Nov. 22 and 27. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at (724) 598-2211.
•Accident. Police said Christopher M. DeCaprio, 35, of New Castle, sustained moderate injuries when his car hit a cement abutment on a bridge on Route 422 over Pennsylvania Avenue around 5 p.m. Nov. 26. Police said DeCaprio was westbound and was passing a vehicle and moving from the passing lane into the right lane while text messaging on his cell phone. The Shenango Township police assisted at the scene. He is to be cited for careless driving.

Flight from police yields suspected cocaine
A Youngstown man who police said fled from them Monday morning remains in the Lawrence County jail. New Castle police said Jamal I. Turner, 21, of 56 Garfield St., was arraigned before District Judge Melissa Amodie on charges of manufacture, delivery or possession of a controlled substance, flight to avoid apprehension, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.
Man charged with drug possession during school visit
A Meadville man visiting a local school is facing drug possession charges. New Castle police said a summons has been issued to Jeremy Smith, 35, of Liberty Street. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Jeep flips onto roof in Falls Street accident
A Pulaski woman was injured when her car collided with a van and flipped onto its roof, trapping her inside. The accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. Thursday on Falls Street at the intersection of Lowry Street.
Felon arrested for drugs on Halco Drive
Narcotics investigators found cocaine and marijuana while serving a sealed search warrant on Halco Drive Thursday. They also confiscated oxycodone pills and a loaded .38-caliber pistol.
Chimney fire damages home
A chimney fire caused damage to a North Beaver Township home this week. The North Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Department was called to the home of Joe Procopio at 325 Reed Road.
Man jailed for assault facing drug charges
A man jailed Wednesday in connection with an alleged burglary and assault is now facing drug charges, too. New Castle police said that when they arrested Glenn David Samuels III, 22, of 304 E. Lutton St., at his home just before noon Wednesday, they found him to be in possession of about 8 grams of heroin and 3 grams of crack cocaine, all broken down into individual packages for sale.
Man charged after hitting Capitol Grille
An East Side man is facing charges after a December accident when his truck allegedly hit the Capitol Grille building. On Wednesday, New Castle police charged George A. Stevens, 58, of Apt. 412, 814 W. Washington St., in connection with the accident that occurred around 1:50 p.m. Dec. 31.
Police arrest woman wanted in Florida
An East Side woman whose car was stopped by New Castle police is wanted on felony charges in Florida. New Castle police have charged Vivian Lynn King, 54, of 1819 E. Washington St., as a fugitive from justice.
McGrath Manor raid leads to man’s arrest
One person was charged following a drug raid at New Castle’s McGrath Manor. Daymond Waller, 20, of 814 W. Washington St. was charged after the raid by New Castle police and the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force Wednesday morning.
Man charged with break-in
A New Castle man is facing 15 charges stemming from a break-in on the city’s West Side. Glenn David Samuels, 22, was charged with burglary, aggravated and simple assault, criminal trespass, prohibited possession of a firearm, robbery, carrying a concealed firearm without a license, endangering the welfare of children, theft, receiving stolen property, terrroristic threats, recklessly endangering another, defiant trespassing, criminal mischief and harassment.
