Second arrest made stemming from downtown fight, stabbing

NEW CASTLE — A second woman has been arrested in connection with a weekend incident at the Capitol Grill.

Darece Nicole Murphy, 28, of 409 Denver Ave. is charged with aggravated and simple assault, harassment, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

She was arraigned Monday before District Judge Scott A. McGrath and remains in the Lawrence County jail on $10,000 bond.

According to court papers, New Castle police were called to the Jameson Hospital parking lot at 2:16 a.m. Sunday following reports that someone struck several people in the lot, then drove off. Officers said two people were struck. Police said Murphy was identified as the driver.

Police report that officers had been called to the Capitol Grill at 108 N. Mercer St. at 1 a.m. Sunday regarding a fight at the bar and shots being fired. Three women were taken to Jameson with stab wounds.

Georgia Marie Murphy, 50, also of 409 Denver Ave., was charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering and harassment and one count each of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. She was released from the Lawrence County jail after posting $10,000 bond.

    Two men on four-wheelers helped New Castle police catch two Remacor burglary suspects. Brian John Scott, 26, and Charles John Mulroy II, 32, both of New Galilee, are accused of breaking in through a hole in Remacor’s fence to steal about 200 feet of wiring, phone line and pipe around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.
