Crestview residents face drug charges

NEW CASTLE — Three Crestview Gardens residents were arrested when police serving warrants found marijuana and a gun in their apartment.

They have charged Omar Hakim, 29, Kijanee Andre Armstrong, 19, and Kierre Chambers, 22, in connection with the incident. All three have addresses at Apt. 1B, 1138 Parkwood Court.

Police said Hakim was wanted on a bench warrant from Mercer County Court of Common Pleas and they were going to Parkwood Court to find him around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Chambers allowed the officers into the apartment and they reported that they could smell marijuana from outside.

When police went in, they saw suspected marijuana on the dining room table and found three men hiding in a closet in a bedroom. One was Hakim, who was arrested. The other two men were released.

Chambers and Armstrong also were arrested.

Police obtained a warrant and searched the apartment later that morning. In addition to the suspected marijuana on the dining room table they found marijuana in a dresser drawer in a bedroom, under a mattress and on a shelf in a bedroom closet.

They also found a Smith and Wesson .38-caliber revolver that had been reported stolen to the state police in Butler inside Armstrong’s dresser drawer.

Armstrong is charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Chambers is charged with conspiracy for possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy to possess and possession of a small amount of marijuana. Both were released on a nonmonetary bond.

Hakim is charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver marijuana; possession, and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

District Judge Melissa Amodie set his bond at $5,000 and he was placed in jail on a retainer for Mercer County.
