Sheriff sale property found unavailable

NEW CASTLE — A New Castle man is facing charges for allegedly failing to have his property available for a sheriff’s sale.

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s office has charged Alvin Emery, 70, of 211 W. Moody Ave., with defrauding secured creditors.

The sheriff’s office was scheduled to sell a 52-inch television, a microwave oven and a 1994 gray Chrysler at Emery’s address on Dec. 18 last year. However, when the sheriff and his deputy went to the sale, Emery was not around, nor was his property. The sheriff’s office alleges he owes the victim $1,716.

He was issued a summons to appear in court.
