Police probe death of man in Union Township

NEW CASTLE — State police are investigating the death of a man found inside of a State Street building in Union Township overnight

Union Township police were contacted during the night to check on the welfare of a man inside a blue garage building in the 1800 block of West State Street.

When police arrived, they found the man dead, according to a trooper from Butler at the scene.

A group of state police troopers stood inside crime scene tape this morning as they continued the investigation.

The trooper would not confirm the incident was a homicide or if there had been foul play involved, pending information from the coroner.

Attempts to reach Lawrence County Coroner Russell S. Noga were unsuccesful this morning.

The man’s name is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin, the trooper said, adding no charges have been filed in connection with the death and it remains under investigation.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
