Police: Man shoved woman holding baby

NEW CASTLE — A Mercer County man was charged with breaking into a home and shoving a woman holding a baby.

A woman told New Castle police that Zavier Layne, 23, went to her home in the 300 block of East Lincoln Avenue about 5 p.m. Sunday. When she asked Layne to have his girlfriend move her vehicle, the woman said, an argument began and she went inside and locked her door.

The woman told officers Layne then kicked her door open and shoved her several times, pushing her up the stairs to the second floor while she was holding a 13-month-old child. After forcing the woman up the stairs, she said, Layne left. No injuries were reported.

Layne was charged Sunday in District Justice Melissa Amodie’s court with burglary, criminal trespass, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and harassment.

Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

Yes, but I’m basically just thinking out loud.
No, that would be weird.
I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
