NEW CASTLE —
A couple was arrested on the city’s West Side Friday night after an alleged scuffle with a box-cutter.
New Castle police said the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. in the 900 block of Sankey Street. Both the man and the woman allegedly involved went to jail.
Police said Gerald Lee Orock Jr., 56, of Fombell, who was on the couch of the apartment, told them his wife, Lisa Jones-Orock, 39, of 327 Orchard Ave., Apt. 404, had tried to cut off his private parts with a box cutter. The device was found on the couch near him.
Officers said Orock had cuts on the crotch area of his pants, a long cut on his left forearm and cuts on his hands. Police said his wounds appeared to have been defensive.
According to the police report, Jones-Orock had blood on her face and a cut on her right hand.
Police learned she was wanted on a bench warrant. They also found in her purse a bag of suspected marijuana that field-tested as positive.
Police also learned that Orock-Jones had a protection from abuse order against Orock prohibiting any contact with her.
Orock was lodged in the Lawrence County jail on a protection from abuse violation.
Orock-Jones was charged with aggravated and simple assault, possession of marijuana and harassment. She was arraigned before District Judge Jennifer L. Nicholson, who set her jail bond at $5,000.
