Two charged in Mahoning Township burglary

NEW CASTLE — A man and woman have been charged by Mahoning Township police in the burglary of a home on Tuesday.

Matthew Paul Speilvogel, 27, of 2141 Dutch Ridge Road, Ellwood City, face one count each of burglary, criminal trespass and conspiracy to commit burglary. Justina Jean Reay, 25, of Sharon faces one count each of burglary and criminal trespass.

The pair were arraigned by District Judge Jennifer Nicholson and are in the Lawrence County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond each.

According to court papers, when a Jacobson Road  resident returned home after 4 p.m. Tuesday, he found Speilvogel upstairs going through drawers.

Speilvogel ran out of the house, and the homeowner chased him down Jacobson Road with his vehicle and hit him, landing him in a ditch.

Reay tried to pick up Speilvogel in a gold Pontiac, but the homeowner also forced her car into the ditch, police said.

State police took custody of the suspects and transported them to the state police station.

Township police said they found a pillowcase in the upstairs of the house filled with coins and the house deed.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
