NEW CASTLE —
New Castle police said they used a Taser on a man who was struggling with firefighters on the North Hill.
Officers were called around 11:58 p.m. Friday to 7 Edison Ave., where they found Andrew Klingensmith, 30, trying to push his way through three New Castle firefighters who were there on a medical call. Police said Klingensmith, of that address, appeared to be under the influence of a strong narcotic.
Klingensmith allegedly then stepped toward the officer in an aggressive manner and the officer deployed his Taser, hitting Klingensmith in the chest. After the third Taser try, police and firefighters were able to wrestle Klingensmith to the ground, the officer reported, adding Klingensmith was restrained in handcuffs and leg shackles for his safety.
He was taken to Jameson Hospital for treatment.
He was charged Monday with public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and will be sent a summons to appear in court.
