NEW CASTLE —
A South Side man has been charged for allegedly trying to break into a former church.
After a seven-month investigation, New Castle police have charged Garry L. Funk, 56, of 303 1/2 Phillips St. with burglary, crimnal attempt at theft and criminal mischief.
According to police, a lead glass window was partially removed and another broken in the March 9 incident. Police submitted blood found at the scene to a crime lab and it matched Funk’s DNA, according to reports.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
