NEW CASTLE —
A 33-year-old North Hill resident suffered injuries after a group of people attacked her at her home.
The woman told police that Sherrie Webb, 28, of 1234 Randolph Street, was one of three people who had gone to her house in the 300 block of Berger Street around 5:30 p.m. Saturday and another female ran onto the porch and punched her in the face.
The resident fell to the floor and the three then went into her house without her permission and kicked and punched her, she told New Castle police. She said the woman who punched her also slashed her with her brooch pin on the face and chest and on her nose, and at one point, the woman bit her on her right arm.
Another of the three suspects hit her in the head with a lamp and broke the lamp, the victim told police.
Police have charged Webb with simple assault, harassment, criminal mischief and criminal conspiracy to commit burglary aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault and harassment.
Police said additional charges may be pending in the case against the other alleged offenders, pending further investigation. They learned that Webb formerly had been a tenant at the house where the alleged attack occurred.
A warrant has been issued for Webb’s arrest.

A New Castle man who hit a tree in Pulaski Township has been admitted to St. Elizabeth Health Center. According to Pulaski Township police, Adam Welsh, 36, of 202 E. Fairmont Ave., was eastbound on Route 422 about 1:30 a.m. Thursday when his pickup truck left the road.

East Side garage ‘total loss’ in fire
The New Castle police department fire investigator was called for a blaze at a garage. The three-bay garage at 626 Superior St. was a total loss, according to New Castle firefighters, who were called about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday. They remained at the scene until nearly 3 a.m.

Shenango man accused of breaking into car
A Shenango man was arrested after he allegedly was caught breaking into a car on New Castle’s East Side. New Castle police charged Jessie Lauderbaugh, 23, of Highview Drive with fleeing from police, theft from a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct and loitering and prowling at night.

Police arrest four in Union Township drug raid
Four people were arrested and drugs and a gun were confiscated Wednesday when police raided a house in Union Township. Union Township police, with the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force and New Castle police special response team and narcotics unit, served a sealed search warrant at 27 Spring St. just before 6:30 a.m.

Man charged as store burglary accomplice
New Castle police have arrested a South Side man for his alleged role in a convenience store burglary. Alex John Benkosky, 21, of 821 S. Mercer St., is accused as an accomplice in the March 26 break-in at the Country Fair on Croton Avenue.

Man accused of cutting woman
A New Castle man is accused of allegedly assaulting a Crestview Gardens woman. Police said Dajoi Taylor, 19, of 509 W. North St. allegedly hit an 18-year-old woman in the cheek with a purple eyebrow razor and pulled the weave out of her hair during an encounter around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Vacant house burns on South Side
A vacant South Side house burned Monday morning. New Castle firefighters were called at 12:50 a.m. to 510 Galbreath St. They said the structure “was fully involved” when they arrived and flames could be seen on all four sides of the building.
