Man charged with molesting newspaper carriers

NEW CASTLE — A North Hill man is charged with molesting and corrupting two teens who helped him to deliver newspapers.

David Michael Plohr, 43, of 135 E. Garfield Ave., was arraigned before District Judge Jerry Cartwright and jailed on two $25,000 bonds. He has since posted bail.

Pennsylvania state police arrested Plohr Tuesday on two counts each of statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, furnishing alcohol to minors, one count of dissemination of pornographic materials to a minor and four counts of corruption of minors involving a 14-year-old.

In a second case, involving a 13-year-old, Plohr faces charges of corruption of minors, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

According to court documents, state police were notified of a suspected child abuse instance last month by parents who reported finding pornographic material in the bedroom of their 14-year-old son.

Police said the youth identified Plohr as the provider of the materials. The documents noted he said Plohr had provided him with alcohol and touched and fondled the youth’s private parts.

Plohr admitted to drinking with the boys at his “rental” residence at 115 Hillcrest Ave., police said, but denied providing pornographic magazines and videos to the older boy.

Police said Plohr also admitted to touching the boy, and “frequently grabbing” the youth’s crotch, but said he was just playing. He also admitting to showering with the younger boy.

The teens told police they had assisted Plohr with deliveries of the Youngstown Vindicator newspapers by placing inserts into the papers. The older boy said they had helped Plohr on alternate weekends

Plohr formerly delivered newspapers for the New Castle News as an independent contractor.

Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

Yes, but I’m basically just thinking out loud.
No, that would be weird.
I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
