Charges filed against motorist involved in fatal crash

NEW CASTLE — State police have filed homicide by vehicle and other charges against a New Castle woman involved in a crash that killed a police officer.

Police allege that Kylee Barletto, 25, was driving a vehicle that was being chased when it crashed into a police cruiser. Killed as a result of that collision was Shenango Township police officer William J. "Jerry" McCarthy IV.

Injured in the crash was another Shenango officer, Michael Lynch. He was taken to Jameson Hospital.

Charges filed Friday morning against Barletto are second degree manslaughter of a law enforcement officer, homicide by vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, accident involving death or injury, involuntary manslaughter, recklessly endangering another person, two counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, four stop sign violations, careless driving and reckless driving.

Barletto is at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
