NEW CASTLE — A South Side man is wanted after police allegedly found marijuana on him during a traffic stop.

New Castle police charged Zachary Pagano, 19, of 1501 Hamilton St. after they pulled over the driver of a car in which he was a passenger at 1:45 a.m. April 18 at the intersection of West Long Avenue and Jefferson Street.

Police said the car did not have its headlights on.

Officers smelled marijuana and the police requested that their canines respond to the scene. Pagano told them he wanted to be honest and he did have marijuana on him.

Officers removed a bag containing four individually wrapped bags and two burned marijuana cigarettes and loose marijuana from his pockets.

Police obtained a search warrant for the car and found a suspected marijuana grinder, two burned marijuana cigarettes, a ceramic bowl and two packages of cigars.

Laboratory results have shown the marijuana in Pagano’s pockets contained 12.72 grams of the drug.

He is charged with manufacture of a controlled substance, possession a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
