NEW CASTLE —
A man facing gun and drug charges was arrested again this week during a traffic stop.
Police said Justin Travis Miller, 20, who has addresses at 802 Sankey St. B and on Ray Street, was a passenger, and had a bag of suspected marijuana and $247 in his shoe. A handgun loaded with two bullets was in the back of the car, according to police.
Miller was one four occupants of the car.
The driver was pulled over around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Leasure and Highland avenues for the car’s lights being out. During the stop, police learned Miller had been arrested recently in a gun incident.
Miller was charged with carrying a firearm without a license and possession of a small amount of marijuana after the traffic stop. He was arraigned by District Judge Melissa Amodie and committed to the Lawrence County jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
He had been arrested in April on drug and gun charges after he allegedly had fired shots at a car on Grant Street. Police said they found 4 grams of heroin in his cell in the city and they searched his house and found more drugs and paraphernalia.
Miller is awaiting court proceedings and was out of jail on bond when Tuesday night’s traffic stop occurred.
