•Criminal mischief. Someone tossed eggs at a truck driven by a Volant man on Route 108 on Tuesday.
•Accident. A Saturn Vue driven by Aarika Y. Harris, 31, of New Castle, was hit from behind while it was stopped on Route 422 near North Liberty Street. Harris had swerved to miss a deer at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday and hit a guide wire, police said. Her car was hit by a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Richard J. Zeigler, 39, of New Castle, which then continued east and went off the road. No injuries were reported. Zeigler was cited for careless driving.

Coroner: Drowning victim's death was accidental
The death of a Slippery Rock Township woman pulled from a Scott Township lake Wednesday was due to drowning. Lawrence County Coroner Russell S. Noga said an autopsy on the body of Nancy Ellen List, 26, of 6074 Old Route 422 Extension indicated “death was consistent with a fresh water drowning.”
Man accused of leaving child alone outside
A man is facing charges for allegedly dropping off a 5-year-old and leaving her alone in her yard.

The day ended tragically for a Slippery Rock Township couple who went fishing Tuesday on a private lake. The body of Nancy Ellen List, 26, of 6074 Old Route 422 Extension, was pulled from the lake at 2:25 p.m. yesterday following an all-day search.

Fire destroys garage in North Beaver
A trash fire could have been the cause of a three-car garage fire Monday on McClain Road. Fire Chief Paul Henry of the North Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Department said firemen were called to Highland Meadows Farm in the 500 block of McClain Road at 9:05 p.m. They remained until about midnight.
