Pair charged in drug case

NEW CASTLE — Two men were arrested after police allegedly observed them in a drug transaction.

New Castle police filed charges against Robert Lynn Calhoun Sr., 50, of 604 N. Cedar St. and John Hogue, 51, of Ellwood City.

Officers working in plain clothes about 8:45 p.m. Monday said they had seen two men in an East Side parking lot where one allegedly asked the other, “You got anything?”

A criminal complaint said the men were in a vehicle and when officers approached, the passenger, identified as Hogue, had what appeared to be a small bag of crack cocaine. When police identified themselves, they said Hogue placed the bag in his mouth.

Officers said Hogue was pulled from the vehicle and forced to spit out the bag.

Police said the two men were later interviewed and both allegedly admitted Calhoun had provided the drugs to Hogue, but Calhoun denied taking money. However, police said Calhoun had $90 and another $120 was found in the vehicle.

Calhoun was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance. Hogue was charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

A hearing for Calhoun is scheduled July 24 and one for Hogue is set for Aug. 21.

Are you concerned enough about the Heartbleed bug on the Internet to change all of your social media and website passwords?

Yes. It’s always a good idea to change passwords regularly anyway. I just have so many, I’m not sure where to start.
No. From what I’ve read, companies are still trying to figure out how to fix the flaw. The bad guys will just have access to my NEW passwords, too.
Not sure, but I blame Al Gore. He invented the Internet, right? How’s he going to get us out of this mess?
