Man arrested in alleged assault

NEW CASTLE — A man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman and wouldn’t let her answer the door.

Nathan Perkins, 52, of Apt. 2, 1 N. Greenwood St., is accused of cutting the woman’s face during a dispute and threatening to kill her if she called police.

As a result, New Castle police have charged him with simple assault, false imprisonment and harassment.

Officers were called to the man’s apartment around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday after receiving notice of a 911 hang-up call. After several minutes, Perkins opened the door and police talked to the woman, who had several cuts on her face, including one on her right eyebrow, which ambulance personnel said needed stitches.

She told police Perkins had injured her.

The woman was taken to Jameson Hospital, where she told officers she had asked Perkins to fix her remote control and they had gotten into an argument that escalated into a fight. She said he smacked her in the face and choked her. She said she managed to kick him off her but he went into the kitchen, grabbed a knife and said he was going to kill her.

She told officers she had been able to get to a phone and dial 911. She said that when officers arrived, Perkins would not let her answer the door and told her the police would arrest her.

He was arraigned Wednesday morning by District Judge Jennifer L. Nicholson, who set his bond at $1,000.

Milwaukee catcher Martin Maldonado has been suspended five games for sucker punching Pittsburgh’s Travis Snider during a bench clearing brawl on Sunday. You OK with that suspension?

Yes. Seems fair.
No. Baseball NEVER gets it right in these situations. Should have been at least 20 games for his sucker punch into a pile of players.
Not sure, but I’d love to see baseball be like hockey and allow two guys to fight for a while before breaking it up. Let’s see how tough Maldonado is then.
