NEW CASTLE — A drowning in a Washington Township quarry in August has been ruled a suicide.

The Lawrence County Coroner’s office issued the ruling this week in the death of Dwight Edward Copper, 59, of George Washington Road.

State police said Copper’s body was found floating in 10 feet of water near the western shore of Kino Quarry, about 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 4.

His red Jeep was parked at the scene and no suspicious circumstances were found there, police said.

The ruling was issued following a review of an investigation by state police and medical and toxicology reports. The cause of death is listed as a drowning.
