NEW CASTLE — A Pulaski man found to have alcohol and two other drugs in his blood faces six DUI charges.

Pulaski Township police said Charles Richard Emery III, 35, of 216 Oakridge Drive, was stopped while operating a pickup truck with a loud exhaust and other faulty equipment in the Cherriwood Road/Route 422 area about 2:10 a.m. March 23.

The officer said he noticed a strong smell of alcohol and glassy and blood-shot eyes as he spoke to Emery, who admitted he had consumed four beers prior to getting into the truck.

Police arrested Emery for driving under the influence after he failed a series of field sobriety tests, took him to Jameson Hospital for blood testing, then released him to the custody of his wife.

Based on blood test results, this week police charged Emery with six counts of driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and two vehicle equipment offenses.
