Man accused in malt liquor theft

NEW CASTLE — A man accused of stealing malt liquor from a South Side bar later injured himself in a city jail cell.

New Castle police arrested Rudolph M. Aldridge Jr., 39, of 414 Young St. around 12:30 a.m. Thursday after a bar reported he had stolen a case of malt liquor, then got into a car with two women.

Police pulled the car over at Grant Street near Halco Drive. As Aldridge got out of the car, he fell and suffered a cut above his lip, then fell several more times while in custody, police said. They seized the 12-pack of malt liquor, two bottles of which had been consumed.

Police said Aldridge was placed in a holding cell and they asked him about 15 times to stop banging his head on the wall. He suffered a cut above his eyelid as a result, and the officers placed him in a restraint chair.

He is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and public drunkenness.

Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

Yes, but I’m basically just thinking out loud.
No, that would be weird.
I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
