Man charged in Leasure break-in
A North Hill man was arrested Sunday for trying to burglarize a house on Leasure Avenue.
New Castle police have charged Michael C. Campbell, 39, of 407 Park Ave., in connection with the incident after a neighbor saw him trying to enter a house in the 400 block through the side door around 9 a.m. Neighbors called the police.
Officers said they found Cambell walking around inside the house and ordered him to leave. They took him into custody and said he gave them a false name and date of birth. He later was identified by his mother.
The neighbor told police she had seen Campbell walking along the 400 block of East Leasure Avenue before he went into the house.
Campbell is charged with burglary, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and defiant trespass. He was arraigned before District Judge David B. Rishel and released on his own recognizance for medical reasons.
Pizza shop suspect charged
A Shenango Township man has been charged in the burglary of a pizza shop in December.
Douglas Eugene Pegg Jr., 21, of 3126 Princeton Road has been charged by Shenango Township police with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
Police said Pegg admitted to the burglary of Four Star Pizza that occurred around 4:15 a.m. Dec. 24.
According to the criminal complaint, Pegg said he broke out a side window with a hammer and entered the building through the window. Police said he took a box containing money. Pegg said he counted $235, police said.
The owner of Four Star Pizza told police that the total loss of cash was $935.11 and the damage to the side window and office door totaled $1,995, the complaint said.
Charges filed in Union burglary
A New Castle man has been charged with burglarizing a Union Township house when the owner was vacationing.
Township police last week filed charges against Michael Paul Ayersman, 28, of 449 Countyline St. for burglary, criminal trespass, theft and criminal mischief.
He has not yet been arrested.
Police said neighbors reported witnessing someone breaking into the house on Lower Idlewild Drive about 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 7.
Officers later learned that drawers and closets had been ransacked and jewelry was reported taken.

Police arrest woman wanted in Florida
An East Side woman whose car was stopped by New Castle police is wanted on felony charges in Florida. New Castle police have charged Vivian Lynn King, 54, of 1819 E. Washington St., as a fugitive from justice.
McGrath Manor raid leads to man’s arrest
One person was charged following a drug raid at New Castle’s McGrath Manor. Daymond Waller, 20, of 814 W. Washington St. was charged after the raid by New Castle police and the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force Wednesday morning.
Man charged with break-in
A New Castle man is facing 15 charges stemming from a break-in on the city’s West Side. Glenn David Samuels, 22, was charged with burglary, aggravated and simple assault, criminal trespass, prohibited possession of a firearm, robbery, carrying a concealed firearm without a license, endangering the welfare of children, theft, receiving stolen property, terrroristic threats, recklessly endangering another, defiant trespassing, criminal mischief and harassment.
Sex offender jailed on escape charge
A Neshannock Township man was jailed on $100,000 bond after being charged with escape Wednesday. David Wayne Talbert, 19, of 259 Cathcart Drive was arrested after he allegedly cut off the electronic monitoring device he had been wearing as he awaited sentencing on sex charges.
‘Person of interest’ interviewed in fatality
Police have a lead in a deadly hit-and-run accident last week. According to Shenango Township police, officers have interviewed someone they described as a “person of interest.” The name of that person was not released.
Woman charged with child endangerment
A New Castle woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of children because of alleged deplorable living conditions.
Man found on roof during drug raid
Police said a man hid on the roof of a house when officers arrived to search for suspected drugs. New Castle police reported they took two Detroit men into custody after finding crack cocaine, heroin, money and drug paraphernalia at 822 Morton St. around 4:50 p.m. Friday.
Police pull man through window during arrest
Police pulled a South Side man through a window to arrest him during a disturbance. New Castle officers reported that John Jay Boots, 29, of 507 Galbreath St., received sutures for injuries he had sustained from allegedly fighting with them as they tried to arrest him.
Man accused of pawning stolen jewelry
A South Side man was jailed last week after police allegedly linked him to two burglaries in Neshannock Township.
