Police chase leads to drug charges

NEW CASTLE — A New Castle man is being charged with drug possession after allegedly being involved in a police chase.

Shenango Township police said they responded to a call at 4:50 p.m. Thursday at Lawrence Village Plaza regarding a disturbance involving two vehicles.

With assistance from New Castle police, officers found the suspected vehicles on Hoover Road and gave pursuit. One vehicle allegedly refused to stop and was followed across New Butler Road onto old Butler Road and was eventually stopped on Shepherd Lane.

The accused driver, identified as Vance Lee Sykes, 19, of 919 Beckford St. jumped from the vehicle, police said and ran off. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Charges filed against Sykes were fleeing and eluding police, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and assorted traffic violations.

Police said the operator of the second vehicle, Jason Andrew Zaperach, 38, of West Leechburg, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, harassment, simple assault and reckless driving.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
