Fatal crash suspect in Ohio jail

NEW CASTLE — The woman accused of killing a Shenango Township policeman is in Ohio’s Mahoning County jail.

Kylee Gwen Barletto, 25, of 693 Hoover Road, was discharged Monday night from St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown and taken to the jail.

An extradition hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

Barletto faces 15 charges, including manslaughter of a law enforcement officer and homicide by vehicle in an accident involving death and injury.

Police said she was driving a car that hit a Shenango Township police cruiser about 10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of South Cascade Street and Warren Avenue.

Officer William J. “Jerry” McCarthy IV, was killed in the crash. The driver, Michael Lynch, sustained a broken hip and ankle.

Lawrence County District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa said Barletto may waive extradition or a hearing will be conducted. Lamancusa said he anticipates she will waive the procedure.

“After that, I have 60 days to go to Ohio to pick her up,’ he said. “I don’t think that it will take us that long to get her.”

Milwaukee catcher Martin Maldonado has been suspended five games for sucker punching Pittsburgh’s Travis Snider during a bench clearing brawl on Sunday. You OK with that suspension?

Yes. Seems fair.
No. Baseball NEVER gets it right in these situations. Should have been at least 20 games for his sucker punch into a pile of players.
Not sure, but I’d love to see baseball be like hockey and allow two guys to fight for a while before breaking it up. Let’s see how tough Maldonado is then.
