Jeep flips onto roof in Falls Street accident

NEW CASTLE — A Pulaski woman was injured when her car collided with a van and flipped onto its roof, trapping her inside.

The accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. Thursday on Falls Street at the intersection of Lowry Street.

Michael Lastoria, 76, of 816 Meegan Ave., who was driving a van, told police he had pulled from Lowry Street onto Falls Street and was hit by a Jeep driven by Renee Yohman, 38, of 650 Carlisle Road, Pulaski.

Yohman told police she had seen Lastoria pulling out and swerved to avoid hitting him, but she could not stop in time and his car hit hers and it rolled it onto its roof.

An eyewitness told police he saw Lastoria pull out and hit Yohman’s vehicle and saw it overturn.

Police said Lastoria is to be cited for a stop sign violation.

Yohman was taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital. Information about her condition was unavailable Thursday.

The New Castle Fire Department helped New Castle police and paramedics free Yohman from the vehicle while it was upside down.
