Ex-nurse’s aide accused of indecent assault against woman, 91

NEW CASTLE — A former nurse’s aide has been cited for indecent assault of a 91-year-old nursing home patient.

New Wilmington police this week charged Josh Ian-David Short, 30, of 211 Smith Ave., Sharon, with indecent assault, harassment and stalking.

Short has been notified of the charges by summons. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 31.

According to police, officers were contacted in August by the manager of The Overlook Nursing Home at 520 S. New Castle St., New Wilmington, who reported the alleged abuse of a 91-year-old dementia patient.

Police were told the victim had special needs, including assistance in personal care, such as bathing.

Police interviewed two other employees who reported that on multiple occasions Short deliberately harassing and annoying the patient with comments and by pouring cold fluid, squeezed from sanitary wipes, over the woman’s genital area.

Co-workers said this upset the woman and made her a difficult patient.
