Police: Neshannock shooting was accidental

NEW CASTLE — A Neshannock Township man accidentally shot himself in the head Monday night with a pellet gun, according to township police.

James Rearick Jr., 27, of Sunset Drive, had called 911 about 6 p.m. saying that he had accidentally shot himself in the head, police reported.

Police from Neshannock and Union townships and the state police responded to the scene.

Lt. John Rand of Neshannock Township said officers broke down the door of the residence when no one answered it.

They found Rearick in an upstairs bedroom, conscience and bleeding from the left side of the head, he said.

Rearick was taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital and was flown from there to a nearby trauma hospital. Additional hospital information was unavailable.

Rand said a .22 caliber pellet rifle was at the foot of Rearick’s bed.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
