Man dies in two-car crash on State Street

NEW CASTLE — An Edinburg man died in a two-vehicle collision on State Street Wednesday.

Robert McQuiston, 62, of 5393 Erie St., was pronounced dead at the scene, according to New Castle police.

He was driving west on State Street around 3:30 p.m., police said, when his Chevrolet Cobalt crossed two traffic lanes near Jones Street and collided with a Ford Escape driven by Sherry Settle, 59, of Mercer Street, who was eastbound.

“This was not a high-speed crash,” Cpl. Chris Fabian, New Castle police traffic officer said, adding there was no indication of skidding or ice that would have caused McQuiston to cross lanes.

Fabian said he does not know whether McQuiston died of injuries from the crash or whether he had a medical problem.

No other injuries were reported.

McQuiston was pronounced dead by Rich Johnson, Lawrence County deputy coroner, who said an autopsy was to be performed at Heritage Valley Health System in Beaver County Thursday afternoon to determine the cause of death.

Milwaukee catcher Martin Maldonado has been suspended five games for sucker punching Pittsburgh’s Travis Snider during a bench clearing brawl on Sunday. You OK with that suspension?

Yes. Seems fair.
No. Baseball NEVER gets it right in these situations. Should have been at least 20 games for his sucker punch into a pile of players.
Not sure, but I’d love to see baseball be like hockey and allow two guys to fight for a while before breaking it up. Let’s see how tough Maldonado is then.
