On the Record: Today’s police items and district judge reports

•Burglary. A television was reported stolen from an apartment in the 800 block of Sankey Street between 2 p.m. Jan. 15 and 5 p.m. Friday.

•Burglary. An iPod and $221 in cash were reported stolen from Edward’s Restaurant at 909 Wilmington Road around 7:15 a.m. Saturday. An employee said he went to work and noticed the money box open on the floor behind the bar. A front window was smashed and bar stools in front of the windows had shoe prints on them, police said. A surveillance video shows a man entering through the broken window and climbing over the bar and walking to the cash register, then exiting. He then walked back in and opened all the cooler doors. The video shows the man opening the cash box and taking money, police said, then exiting through the kitchen door.

•Burglary. About 250 feet of copper pipe was reported stolen from a house in the 300 block of East Fairmont Avenue between Friday and Tuesday.


•Retail theft. Police said $23.40 worth of food and beverages were taken from Sheetz on Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, at 2:47 a.m. on Jan. 1. Police later arrested John Kenny, 26, of Philadelphia, and charged him with retail theft.

•Accident. Police said a dark green mini van was speeding north on Mohawk School Road in North Beaver Township at 12:50 p.m. Jan. 16, and sped into a construction zone where flagmen were holding “slow” signs . Police said the van drove off the road and struck a mailbox after encountered a slow-moving vehicle in the construction zone. The van then left the area, police said. District judges


•Shaun R. Fox, 25, of New Castle, charged by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission with fishing without a license.

•Jeffery J. Synan, 43, of New Castle, charged by New Castle code enforcement with violating the construction code act.

New Castle police charged the following:

•Matthew Allen Fields, 26, of New Castle, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and turning movements and required signals violation.

•Ronald A. Folino, 57, of Ellwood City, fleeing or attempting to elude officers, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, driving at unsafe speed, careless driving and reckless driving.

•Paul Joseph Flesch, 32, of New Castle, terroristic threats and harassment.

•Richard N. Beamon, 66, of New Castle, disorderly house.


•Shawn L. Knechtel, 44, of Ellwood City, charged by dog law enforcement with vaccination against rabies required violation.

•Evan John Yurkovich, 18, of Ellwood City, charged by Ellwood City police with theft.


•Kenneth Paul Alley, 37, of New Castle, charged by the Lawrence County district attorney with harassment and disorderly conduct.

•Joseph Black, 45, of New Castle, charged by New Castle police with two counts of driving under the influence and one count of accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property.

Union Township police charged the following:

•James Anthony Stein, 58, of New Castle, arrest prior to requisition.

•Ladawn Lewis, 20, of New Castle, defiant trespass.

•Matthew S. Koebler, 33, of Cleveland, Ohio, retail theft.


•Long John Silver’s Seafood Shoppe in Shenango Township, charged by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture with selling an adulterated frozen dessert product.

•Gretchen Ann Betz, 35, of Ellwood City, charged by Shenango Township police with scattering rubbish.


•James Arthur Robison, 50, of New Castle, charged by Neshannock Township police with simple assault and harassment.
