On the Record: Today's births, police and district judge reports



To Lisa and Joseph Garchar of Pulaski, a daughter on June 30, 2014, at Horizon Hospital, Farrell.



•Theft. A Garmin GPS, a Tom Tom GPS and $70 were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Boyles Avenue Sunday or Monday.

•Burglary. Someone entered a home in the 900 block of Butler Avenue between 6 and 8 p.m. Sunday and took $400. Entry was gained by breaking a basement window.

•Vehicle theft. A 1996 Chevrolet Blazer was stolen from a home in the 100 block of Mulberry Street the night of June 26 to 27. It was later recovered in the 700 block of Superior Street. The vehicle was ransacked and its radio had been torn out.

•Accident. Ralph Dottle Sr. of 710 Superior St. told police he had been in his vehicle chasing a youth who had stolen cigarettes from his porch around 3:30 p.m. June 27. He said he got out of his vehicle on Friendship Street after putting it in park and attempted to chase the youth on foot. The vehicle drifted backward and hit two parked vehicles.

•Criminal mischief. Two tires were sliced on a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Paul Street June 27.


•Burglary. A large screen television and laptop were taken from a residence on Clover Lane overnight Tuesday. The residence also appeared to have been ransacked, police said. Entry was gained by kicking in a side door.

•Burglary attempt. At May’s Donuts, 1707 Wilmington Road, overnight Wednesday. Police said an attempt was made to pry open the front and rear doors. No entry was made. Both doors had some damage.

District judges

Melissa A. Amodie

•Gordon M. Oplinger, 60, of Tallmadge, Ohio, charged by the city of New Castle’s health officer with operating without a license.

•Erica Lynn Cox, 41, of New Castle, charged by the Lawrence County district attorney with bad checks.

New Castle police charged the following people:

•Omar Moore, 19, of New Castle, giving false identification to a law officer.

•Harry A. Boatner Jr., 64, of New Castle, two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of an instrument of crime and harassment.

New Castle’s code enforcement department charged the following people:

•Tracy Dickson Kimmel, 69, of New Castle, defacement of property-failure to remove graffiti, exterior paint violation, exterior walls violation and failure to display street numbers on dwelling.

•Brianna Webb of New Castle, upholstered furniture or mattresses in yards prohibited and accumulation of rubbish or garbage.

Dog law enforcement charged the following people:

•Sheryl A. Hayes, 36, of New Castle, failure to apply for dog license.

•Zachariah D. Kyle, 21, of New Castle, failure to apply for dog license.

•Dawn L. Loughry, 40, of New Castle, failure to apply for dog license.

•Manuel Alberto Gonzales, 28, of New Castle, failure to apply for dog license.

•Deborah H. Wagner, 46, of New Castle, failure to apply for dog license.
