Two arrested over vending machine

NEW CASTLE — Two Butler County men were arrested for allegedly trying to break into a vending machine in Pulaski Township.

Robert William Wright, 50, and Nathan Ryan Wolfe, 31, both of Kittanning, were charged with criminal attempt to commit theft, criminal conspiracy to commit theft and possessing instruments of crime. Both were arraigned before District Judge Jennifer Nicholson and committed to the Lawrence County jail on $25,000 bond each.

Pennsylvania state police were notified at 6:30 a.m. Monday that two men in a dark sport-utility vehicle were attempting to break into a vending machine at the Italian Take-Out Restaurant on Route 422 in Pulaski Township. The witness provided the license plate number and said the men fled east on Route 422.

Police stopped the vehicle on Route 422 in Butler County and arrested the two men.

After obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle, officers found instruments of crime including a ski mask, crow bar, screw drivers, flash light and money bags. Police said a “large amount” of $1 bills and coins also were seized from the vehicle.
